About Our Programs - on a budget

We love creating new program opportunities for the kids of our community! Being from a small town, we understand the challenge it is to provide quality programs with a small budget. We also understand we're not alone! Our purpose here is to share with you some of the things we do in the hopes that you might be able to take away an idea for your own library or wherever you plan to spread some reading fun!

Preschool Story Time: Miss Nina

Preschool Story Time is where learning happens! Miss Nina guides children on a learning adventure through stories, crafts, games and more! Each month of meetings is centered around a single theme for children to explore the fundamentals of meeting new friends and enjoying the library! Typically scheduled for 3 week increments, participants can enjoy 45 minutes of learning fun. SIGN UP your 3 - 5 year old today!

Chess Challenge Mondays: Mrs. Deb

Mrs. Deb meets players, 3rd grade - 8th grade, wherever they're at. She guides beginners through naming pieces and memorizing their respective moves in addition to teaching advanced players about forks, pins, and tricky board puzzles. This program meets for two sessions every year. Each session meets weekly for a few months and culminates in an end-of-the-season tournament. It's a great way to enhance reasoning and logic skills - and to just enjoy playing a great game with new friends! SIGN UP your 3rd - 8th grader today!

Rookie Reader Adventure Club: Mrs. Paige

Kindergarten - 3rd graders enjoy a weekly chapter book journey with Mrs. Paige during Rookie Reader Adventure Club. Her programs run for 4 or 5 weeks at a time. At each meeting participants listen to a few new chapters of our chosen title while they follow along in their own books. Rookie Readers learn new words, play games, make crafts, and enjoy tasty treats! Her goal is to enhance reader vocabulary and word recognition in addition to helping to instill an excitement for reading. Be on the lookout for 3 to 4 of these programs per year. SIGN UP kindergarten - 3rd grader today!

Summer Reading Program

The Earlville Public Library's Summer Reading program utilises the skills of all of the children's librarians! Each year they discuss topics for a new theme and create a 5 to 6-week program for children ranging in age from preschool to 5th grade. There are weekly meetings designed for each group - preschool, kindergarten & 1st grade, 2nd & 3rd grade, and 4th & 5th grade. With a blanket theme for the summer, each week is broken down into a sub-theme that relates. Kids explore new books, games, and crafts each week! Throughout the program, participants are challenged to meet the weekly reading goals set for each age group.  SIGN UP YOUR CHILDREN TODAY!
